Content Liquidation and Estate Sale
Liquidation in the simplest terms refers to the conversion of hard assets to cash. Liquidation of an individual's estate does not just occur upon a death. It can also occur when someone is moving and chooses to downsize.
To ensure your sale goes smoothly, we follow these steps in our estate sale process.
Preparation
When preparing for your estate sale, you’ll begin by helping our estate sale professionals sort through and determine what are for-sale items. Any high-quality or antique pieces are usually featured prominently and protected during the sale day.
We will stage the home and the contents in preparation for the sale
Jewelry is usually placed in locked cases and handed to buyers one piece at a time by request. Less expensive items might be sold in groups, like three items for $10. We will tag most item with stickers, hanging tags, or perforated tags where the buyer can rip off the bottom to indicate that the product is no longer available.
Once we have looked through your inventory, we’ll be able to advise you on the length of your sale. Some estate sales are one-day events, while others last for three days if there are a lot of items.
Advertising
To get people excited for your estate sale, we do more advertising than you would for a garage or yard sale. We have a list of clients we can notify if you have items they are interested in and of people in the surrounding area about the upcoming sale. We will also list your sale on our website. Online classifieds, estate sales.net .org, and .com are the main sources we advertise on as it is proven to reach the greatest number of people.
Day of the Estate Sale
The night before the estate sale starts, your sale team puts up signs indicating where the sale is happening. If you live in a neighborhood, we put up directional signs from any nearby main road. During the sale, we may limit the flow of people coming into the home, only allow a certain number of people in at a time, and have the traffic flow in one direction. Each sale is different and we do what we feel is best for the safety of our clients assets and their specific needs
Checkout happens at designated spots, usually only one place, upon request we can track large items, more expensive pieces, & jewelry, and what they are sold for. We are cash only however at times we will accept personal checks, and credit card payments if necessary and take full responsibility for clearing the payment.
We provide boxes, bags, or other packing materials for customers. Customers usually cannot bring in large bags or bulky coats to reduce the incidence of shoplifting.
